Small CPR Mask Shown To Help Protect Rescue Breathers From Direct Contact With Victim

March 07, 2016 – – First Aid Shoppe COO, Anna Loehwing, reported today that their Mini Keychain CPR Mask has been shown in testing to prevent direct contact between the rescue breather and victim. The rescue mask is a small, fold-up mask that is stowed in a nylon pouch about the size of an average key fob. It comes with a key ring for carrying on a keychain.

“When you’re faced with a CPR emergency you know what you’ve got to do,” says Ms. Loehwing. “But there’s no escaping the reality that you also need to see to your own safety. You’re going to save this person right now, but what about any infection or contamination you might get in the process? What if the person has a communicable disease? And what if you’re sick? You don’t want to infect the person you’re trying to save. This little CPR mask protects in both directions.”

According to Ms. Loehwing protection for both the rescue breather and the victim is critical when administering CPR. Traditional CPR masks can be large and sometimes unwieldy. They can also be problematic to store and have on hand. The mini mask by First Aid Shoppe is designed to be small enough to be folded up and carried easily. It is a single-use fold-out shield with a built-in one-way breathing valve. The mask is transparent and has clear instructions printed directly on the front. Each set comes with either ten (10) or five (5) of the small masks. The idea is to have a mask in locations where it might be needed.

“You never know where trouble can strike,” says Ms. Loehwing. “That’s where our mini CPR mask comes in. Carry it with your keys, or to put one in your pocket or keep it in your purse. These masks prevent contact with the person you’re trying to rescue.”

Ms. Loehwing reports the Mini Keychain CPR mask has been constructed based on the specifications of several global organizations and is of the type in use worldwide. Mini CPR Key Chain Masks are available in packages of five (5) or ten (10), and each mask is single use. The masks are intended as a solution to prevent contact between rescue breather and victim.
