Starfish’s Blockchain Battlefield Pitch Competition Brings 100 Top Blockchain Startups to Investors at SF Blockchain Week

October 31, 2019 – –

San Francisco, California: Blockchain Battlefield, the top blockchain startup competition at SF Blockchain Week, gets its start at 3pm-5:30pm today at the San Francisco Marriott Marquis during Epicenter. Organized by Starfish, San Francisco’s top blockchain technology coworking and community space, it will put 100 blockchain startups in competition for a prize with major VC firms as judges.

Starfish is a co-working space and community hub for emerging technology pioneers to connect, collaborate and build. They are known for hosting events and panels for blockchain, crypto, AI, ML, IoT and other builders in the emergent web space in San Francisco.

The founder of Starfish, Alicia Ferratusco, said that, “Events like TechCrunch Battlefield inspired us to host a competition this large. Public pitch competitions contribute to leveling the playing field for new startups and founders and we want to bring this level of accessibility to the blockchain industry.”

Blockchain Battlefield plans to do this by being completely merit based through votes from members of the Starfish community, and by being judged by some of the top VC firms in the industry. The top ten companies have been selected to present on stage during SF Blockchain Week at Epicenter and the best will receive the grand prize. Judges include key players from Bloq, Boost VC, Monday Capital, JD Capital, Blockchain Ventures, SVBS, CoinShares and Proof of Capital.

Looking forward, Starfish is developing a structure for an incubator program based out of their HQ in San Francisco. This inaugural event (Blockchain Battlefield) will be the start of a series of regular Blockchain/ Web3/ emerging tech focused events meant to connect founders and investors.

“Blockchain still feels like an isolated (niche) industry where success is strongly correlated with having strong personal networks rather than merely passion and drive,” explained Starfish founder Alicia Ferratusco. “We aim to develop ecosystems and support structures to help more founders succeed in this industry by facilitating the connections they need with events like these.”
