Students, Mentors and Supporters of ACE Mentor Houston come together November 21, 2015 to build benches for charities at their annual scholarship fundraiser
HOUSTON, TX – 11/12/2015 (PRESS RELEASE JET) — Construction, Architecture, and Engineering professionals from the greater Houston area are getting ready to Build It Forward. The ACE Mentor Houston’s annual scholarship fundraiser is scheduled to be held November st, at AM at the Marek Bros. office located at 2115 Judiway, Houston, TX. Over twenty teams of students, lead this year by the “Leadership AGC Class of 2016”, mentors and program alumni are scheduled to get some hands-on learning and an opportunity to give back to the community, while they build storage benches. Teams will build the benches, which will then be delivered to other non-profits throughout Houston.
“The intent of the fundraiser,” states Angela Cotie, ACE Mentor Houston Chairman, “is to have the students understand that they have the ability to give back to others simply by using their hands. I am not certain of another fundraiser that gives back to so many, and sends kids to college.”
In conjunction with the building event, a College and Career fair will be held for the students to learn about opportunities, at Universities, Trade Schools and Tech Schools. This is ACE Mentor Houston’s TH Build It Forward event, with previous builds including storage sheds and convertible picnic benches.
