Seattle, United States – November 29, 2017 /PressCable/ —
The American Chiropractic Association’s position paper on Surface EMG was recently dropped after a review by David Marcarian of MyoVision.
Marcarian was reviewing a denial letter which referenced the ACA position paper to deny payment. He then realized that the ACA was referencing the American Academy of Electrodiagnostic Medicine’s Position Paper on Surface EMG. This paper had been retired long ago by the American Academy of Electrodiagnostic Medicine due to the fact that the Author had ignored 40+ studies in his review.
Marcarian immediately wrote the ACA informing them that their position paper was not supported by their own references. Shortly after, the ACA responded and removed the position paper from their website, stating it was “under review”.
This is a significant breakthrough for chiropractic patients struggling to have injury insurance claims paid. As David Maarcarian Stated:
“With the ACA removing their negative position paper, those receiving denials for DynaROM evaluations will now receive payment, and further bolsters the American Medical Association’s position that Range of Motion without Dynamic EMG (DynaROM) lacks the sensitivity and specificity required to evaluate for true injury.”
