Talcum Powder Ovarian Cancer Lawsuits Continue To Be Filed

April 10, 2017 – – Pharmaceutical giant Johnson & Johnson is facing various lawsuits pertaining to its talcum powder products. In the midst of literally thousands of lawsuits and claims filed against the company over their continued use of talc in powder based products, the company has managed to win one case. A recent lawsuit in Missouri, filed by Tennessee resident Nora Daniels, was decided in favor of Johnson & Johnson.

According to a representative for TalcumPowder.org, however, this is one in more than 3,000 cases that are headed into court within the next year or so. “Out of the first four trials, the pharmaceutical company took one win. In the other three trials, they were ordered to pay more than $195 million in restitutions to plaintiffs.”

The spokesperson says that women who feel they have a right to file a claim should not be discouraged by the one case that was awarded in favor of the defendant. A new trial is set to begin shortly and with thousands more looming, the representative says that those who have been affected by Johnson & Johnson products should file their claims now.

The pharmaceutical company has been accused of not providing adequate warnings to consumers about the link that was found between the use of talc on the genital region and the development of ovarian cancer. Their products that contain talc, Johnson’s Baby Powder and Shower-to-Shower, were continuously marketed toward women for feminine hygiene. Meanwhile, studies dating back for decades show a link between the continued and regular use of talc and the development of ovarian cancer. The plaintiffs in all of these cases are women who used these products for a long period of time and have now been diagnosed with ovarian cancer.

“Literally thousands of women have come forward stating that they were affected by these products,” says the representative for talcumpowder.org. “Thousands more may have been affected and just are not sure of what to do or how to file.”

The spokesperson states that their consumer website offers information to women on the results of previous trials, the evidence provided during those trials, and how to schedule a consultation to determine if a claim can be filed.
