Teledata Invests in New Battery Technology to Improve Energy Efficiencies Across its Manchester Data Centre

One of the UK’s most secure, resilient and well-connected data centres, Teledata, has reduced its load on the National Grid by implementing a brand-new battery technology across its impressive Manchester headquarters.

By only drawing power at off-peak times, rather than when the grid is at capacity, the new battery technology has enabled Teledata to benefit from significant energy savings, driving efficiency across its 70,000 sq ft state-of-the-art data centre in Wythenshawe.

The firm, which was established in 2004, is an ISO27001 accredited data centre and has a track record of investing in energy efficiencies. More than £2 million has been spent by Teledata in a bid to become one of the most energy-conscious providers in the UK, with the firm on a mission to provide a sustainable and resilient service for its customers in what it describes as a turbulent marketplace.

This will be welcome news for the city of Manchester, given its pledge to become carbon neutral by 2038 is rapidly approaching and well under 20 years away from fruition. The announcement also comes in advance of the opening of Teledata’s fourth 2,400 sq ft data hall, which is scheduled for Spring 2021, delivering an additional 300 kw of power to its wider data facility.

A well-renowned technology company, Teledata’s client services include colocation, server hosting, workplace recovery, and data centre services. In 2007, the company renovated the iconic former Shell headquarters at the heart of one of Manchester Airport’s City Enterprise Zones and has been ever-present there since. Its data centre is also one of the most secure in Europe following a £1 million investment into an on-site Security and Operations Control Centre.
