The Atlantic Council Africa Center, lead by Ambassador Rama Yade, announced that Anthony Jones of Georgia Entertainment Association, Inc. (“GEA”) has been selected to speak and moderate a panel at the High-Level International Summit on the African Creative and Cultural Industries, filmed at the Smithsonian National Museum of African Art, Washington D.C. The Summit will feature African Heads of State, Cyril Ramaphosa, President of South Africa, H.E. Roch Marc Christian Kaboré, President, Burkina Faso, President H.E. Felix Tshisekedi of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, President Nana Addo-Akufo, Republic of Ghana, Uhuru Kenyatta, President of Kenya, H.E. Ulisses Correia e Silva, Prime Minister of Capo Verde.
Remarks will also be provided by Vice President Kamala Harris’ office. The Summit will be filmed and streamed live through YouTube, TraceTV and Netflix.

With an emphasis on ‘Soft Power’ being the new ‘Hard’ power, the Summit features high-level dialogue and critical conversations surrounding the many opportunities, pathways, and challenges of African culture and creative industries.

Mr. Jones will speak and moderate a panel focused on Film, TV, Radio, Advertising and Sports. The panelists for the session will include His Excellency President Uhuru Kenyatta of Kenya, US Senator Cory Booker, Amadou Gallo Fall of Basketball League Africa, Futbol Legend Didier Drogba, US Dept of State Deputy Akunna Cook and Kunle Afolayan, Acclaimed Nigerian Film Producer.

“I am deeply honored that the Atlantic Council and Ambassador Yade have chosen GEA to be represented a such esteemed Summit,” Mr. Jones said. “Being able to contribute to a discussion on such a high level with prestigious leaders in the industries as well as heads of state whom care genuinely care about creators is truly inspiring.”

As the State of Georgia has continued its economic growth fueled in part by favorable policy toward the entertainment and sports industries, GEA aims to continue this trend while supporting creatives and executives in the industries and cultivating a strong alliances internationally.

Also participating in the event will be representatives of UNECA, the African Development Bank, Afreximbank, Howard University and Prosper Africa. Additionally, Representative Karen Bass (D-FL), Chairwoman of the House Africa Subcommittee and Dana Banks, Special Assistant to President Biden, National Security Council and Naomi Campbell will participate.

“The Atlantic Council’s emphasis on improving ‘Soft Powers’, such as those wielded by the Creative Industries, can have an immense impact not only economically on African countries but can resolve conflicts and aid in returning cultural artifacts home,” Mr. Jones said.
