The Dovetail End Table is WE living’s signature piece. “We designed the table to capture a balance between Western sensibilities and the Eastern traditions,” explains Yifan Yang, CEO and co-founder of WE living. “Western designs tend to have a more simple and clean look, while Eastern styles contain depth in its use of subtlety and harmony.”

The design team’s inspiration came from studying ancient woodworking joints. “The dovetail joint had an appeal, both modern and classic,” says Kaichuan Wang, WE living’s co-founder and head of design. “It is still commonly used today to connect and reinforce panels on cabinets and tables, and provides strong horizontal and vertical structural support.”

In addition to being eye-catching, the joints are also unique in their structural usefulness. They provide horizontal and vertical support simultaneously, rendering the table both gracefully simple and incredibly strong.

Through support of the creative team’s $30,000 crowd funding campaign on Indiegogo, backers can celebrate Western contemporary and Chinese traditional furniture making with the company. In addition, backers will be offered special deals on the Dovetail End Table.

By reaching out on Indiegogo, the WE living team will be able to assess demand, build stronger relationships with early adopters and use feedback to improve the Dovetail End Table.
