The Pet Spa says Dog Owners may be Harming their Pets with the Wrong Shampoo
February 03, 2017 – – Natural pet shampoo manufacturer The Pet Spa by Soap.Club raises alarm to the public with the hazards of using the wrong shampoo for dogs and cats. Medical investigation suggests that certain shampoos and conditioners may contain cancerous ingredients, which greatly places your pets’ health at risk.
Connie Farrar, founder of Soap.Club and advocate of natural products for pets, talks about the lack of knowledge on the part of dog parents with regards to which ingredients can pose threats to their pets. “Medical research has revealed certain shampoo brands containing carcinogen, which is a known cancer causing agent. The common of which is Diethlanolamine (DEA), which has said to be found in most commercial dog shampoos,” said Farrar.
The skin is the largest body organ. Any substance applied to it can be absorbed easily and cause toxicity. “Whether it is through accident or intentionally, any substance that is used on pets that can contain hazards like carcinogen may put their lives at risk,” warned Farrar.
On the bright side, cancer is generally multifactorial. Aside from outside factors, cancer may also be linked with genetics, lifestyle, and diet. Thus, avoiding toxins is most certainly a strong first step. “A good advice is to completely pursue a healthy lifestyle for the pets,” said Farrar. Pet owners should ensure that foods and water are chemical-free and inspected regularly to reduce the likelihood of infection and sickness.
Pet owners should also be vigilant of the products used for their dogs. Avoid using products that may contain toxic chemicals or cancer causing agents. Pet owners are strongly advised to check and read the label on dog shampoos. “Always compare the ingredients on the list before deciding to buy any product,” said Farrar. She also advised that dog parents should be proactive in doing their homework, read the news, and do their research before buying any product.
One good option in order to avoid any form of health risks is to invest in natural soaps. Natural dog shampoos are made with all-natural ingredients including shea butter, coconut oil, olive oil, soybean oil, hemp oil, and essential oils. “Natural dog shampoo manufacturers focus on producing healthier, natural options for cat and dog guardians. These products are generally intended for pets with sensitive skin; however, with the rising number of cases related to toxicity using commercial products, many pet owners are already making the switch,” says Farrar.
According to Soap.Club, most pet owners worry about the effectiveness of natural pet products, which is why many are hesitant in using such products for their cats and dogs. “That is a common misconception when it comes to using natural dog shampoo. But it’s not exactly the case. Many natural shampoos lather up perfectly like that of conventional products, and smells much better too,” said Farrar.
Soap.Club is strongly advocating the use of natural pet products to spread awareness to dog and cat owners the possible risks of using chemical products which are commonly sold in the market today. “This is a grave threat and it’s disappointing that not so many pet owners are taking this seriously,” said Farrar.
