Top 10 Teen Books for Summer 2015 – includes Summer Sleep-Away

School’s out for summer and reading should be fun for teens. A new list of top books for 2015 offers something for everyone.

Summer Sleep-Away by Ofer Aronskind is one of the top ten teen books according to a new summer reading list compiled with the help of input from a group of parents, teen readers, and librarians. The list was created to encourage summer reading by teens while they are on hiatus from school.

Culled from a few hundred submissions, down to the top ten, the list is divided into two categories -classic and contemporary books. Many of the adults who contributed to the list, said that the books they recommended were written for teens but they enjoyed reading as well.

According to Teen Vogue, “There’s an all-too-common misconception that teenagers don’t read because they’re too glued to their phones/addicted to Netflix/consumed by the Internet.

The whole idea is totally silly because YA [Young Adult] is one of the bestselling book genres out there and the film adaptations of so many teen novels, from The Hunger Games to The Perks of Being a Wallflower, have totally dominated the box office.”

“It is an honor to be included in a list of great books. I love writing, and getting recognition for it makes it all the more satisfying,” stated Summer Sleep-Away author Ofer Aronskind.

Aronskind writes for the young adult audience. His six novels are based on ??????a combination of his own experiences, combined with that of his three sons.

Summer Sleep-Away is the tale of a young boy’s first summer at sleep-away camp. Far from home, separated from his family and not knowing a soul, Mattie Kleinfeld is scared, homesick and cries himself to sleep. But soon the tears give way to new friends and fantastic adventures that lead Mattie to a huge surprise along the path of self-discovery. Mattie’s story will engage the imagination of every reader and capture the heart of any adult that was ever a kid.

Summer Sleep-Away (ISBN-13: 978-1475977561) is 186 pages, and available in paperback and eBook formats from Amazon.com and Barnes and Noble.com
