Transvaginal Mesh Lawsuit Against Boston Scientific Claims Racketeering and Corruption
April 07, 2016 – – TheProductLawyers.com reports on an article by CNNMoney discussing a recently filed class action lawsuit against Boston Scientific that claims the company went to great lengths to “defraud regulators” and receive “counterfeit materials from China” for the manufacturing of transvaginal mesh.
According to the article, the case differs from most class action lawsuits against the company in that it goes past the claims that the mesh causes serious side effects. This could potentially mean that the company could face criminal charges if the claims are validated.
The company said in a statement: “Patient safety is of the utmost importance, and we dedicate significant resources to deliver safe, high-quality products. We don’t believe the case has merit and intend to vigorously defend these claims.”
The company, as of November 2015, has faced about 30,000 lawsuits, according to CNNMoney.
Other lawsuits claiming the mesh causes serious side effects are much more common. Women have come forward claiming that they have suffered side effects including bleeding, infection, vaginal scarring, vaginal shrinkage, neuro-muscular problems, inability to engage in sexual intercourse, organ perforation, recurrent incontinence or organ prolapse, severe pelvic or vaginal pain, mesh erosion through the vagina and mesh contraction. The device was designed to support organs in women suffering from pelvic organ prolapse and to be used in surgeries to treat women with stress urinary incontinence.
As the number of cases begins to increase, attorneys at Banville Law are working to make sure that those who believe they have suffered adverse side effects as a result of a transvaginal mesh implant are given the important opportunity to explore their legal rights fully. Qualifying individuals may be entitled to legal action and financial compensation. Banville Law is currently offering free case evaluations for those parties.
