Valmie Resources (VMRI) Recognizes UAV Industry Progress and Growing Pains
HOUSTON, TX / ACCESSWIRE / November 19, 2015 / Valmie Resources Inc. (OTCBB: VMRI) President and CEO Gerald B. Hammack today made some observations regarding the growth of the unmanned aerial systems (UAS) industry, which is expected to further expand during the last quarter of the year.
The Federal Aviation Administration has predicted as many as 1 million drones could be sold this holiday season. Restrictive regulations, safety issues and operation effectiveness are some of the challenges new commercial users and hobbyists alike must face.
“The UAS industry is evolving at a speed that is difficult to keep up with. There are many questions businesses must answer as they embark upon integrating drones into their operations, including the complexity surrounding the choice of platform and payload,” said Hammack. “All of these issues are triggering a move towards the use of outsourced service providers, resulting in a rapidly expanding customer base that is favorable to the industry.”
Advancing technology is impacting all areas of the UAS industry, from manufacturing to flight controllers and apps. At this lightening pace, a “drone year” is the equivalent of one calendar month, as observed in a white paper published by Global Aerospace, a leading international aviation and aerospace insurance provider, and Dentons, an international law firm with expertise in UAS. According to the document, tasks that were difficult to accomplish just a year ago are possible now, with some of the biggest advances taking place in agriculture.
In spite of the extraordinary progress the commercial drone sector has made, Hammack points out “industry growing pains.”
“The drone revolution has taken place so quickly that safety concerns and a lack of clear legislation have emerged, along with intense media scrutiny,” said Hammack. “This field has some maturing to do. The sector’s explosion brings with it the challenge of integrating thousands of new aircraft into the national airspace, along with keeping up with a myriad of new products and hardware. Luckily the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International has teamed up with other industry stakeholders in an effort to maintain the highest levels of quality and safety in our aviation system.”
