Valmie (VMRI) Will Boost Search and Rescue Efforts – Signs MOU to Provide Drone Technology
HOUSTON, TX / ACCESSWIRE / May 13, 2015 / Valmie Resources Inc. (OTCMKTS: VMRI) is pleased to announce it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with a prominent search and rescue organization for the purpose of working with that group to develop and deploy Valmie’s unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) technology for humanitarian applications.
Through this collaboration, Valmie joins the UAV community already on board to help search and rescue (SAR) organizations worldwide. UAV’s are supporting SAR efforts in critical missions from finding a lost child to locating victims during earthquake recovery operations. A drone hobbyist in California who was instrumental in finding a missing senior last year is building a worldwide search and rescue support group of drone pilots called Search with Aerial Multirotor or SWARM. The network, today more than 1,100 pilots strong, is now in nearly 50 countries.
“It has been demonstrated in the U.S. and worldwide that UAV’s have enormous potential to support search and rescue efforts. As Valmie continues to meet its growth objectives, we are excited to add a humanitarian focus to our technology,” said Gerald B. Hammack, President and CEO of Valmie. “Just as UAV’s will revolutionize the agriculture industry they will do the same for the humanitarian sector.”
One of Valmie’s focus areas is agriculture, where UAV’s are expected to have the greatest economic impact. Valmie recently signed a definitive agreement with an international crop monitor and will provide its commercial drone technology for the company’s agribusiness clients in Central and South America. In the U.S., the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has yet to freely allow the use of drones for agribusiness.
“Through this collaboration, Valmie plans to test and develop its agricultural platform outside the U.S.,” said Hammack. “Nevertheless, we are confident the FAA will loosen its restrictions and we will ultimately be able to deploy the technology on U.S. farms and also adapt it in the search and rescue environment.”
