Valor Worldwide Announces The Winner Of Its First Annual OurMilitary.com Veteran Recognition Scholarship

Valor Worldwide is delighted to reveal the winner of its first annual OurMilitary.com Veteran Recognition Scholarship.

United States – June 20, 2019 / /

Data and media firm and parent company of OurMilitary.com, Valor Worldwide, has named army veteran, Christine Lewis as the winner of its inaugural Veteran Recognition Scholarship. Christine Lewis is currently studying for a Doctorate at Arizona State University.

Lewis by chosen by a carefully curated panel, which reviewed more than 100 applications. Veterans, serving members of the military, and military wives, husbands, and children were invited to submit stories and tales detailing and documenting their experiences. The standard was incredibly high, and judges were blown away by some of the examples of sacrifice, bravery, and dedication. After much deliberation, the panel selected Christine Lewis’ entry based on her service, her commitment to helping others through volunteer work, and her educational achievements. Lewis will now receive $1,000 towards her studies. The winning essay is available to read on OurMilitary.com, and in the coming months, a number of the leading entries will also be featured.

“Christine’s service to her country is only one small example of her relentless passion to help others,” said scholarship judge Doug Baldwin, community leader and former NFL Pro Bowl receiver for the Seattle Seahawks. “Driven by her commitment to herself, her children and to making the world a better place, she is the epitome of what the Valor Scholarship represents.”

Anna Collins, scholarship judge, US Air Force Veteran and Seattle-area business executive, explained that reaching a decision was difficult, saying, “All of the Valor Scholarship finalists demonstrated character, competence, and caring in their inspirational essays,” and adding “Congratulations to all of them and Valor for amplifying voices that matter.”

Valor’s annual global Veteran Recognition Scholarship is part of its social impact program, ‘Valor Invests in Veterans.’ The scheme is designed to benefit veterans and their families, with a portion of its quarterly revenue donated directly to military families. Information about the 2020 scholarship can be found on the website here.
