Paul H. Grimm, President of The Valspring Group commented today on the coming of the first official Gardening holiday— National Plant a Flower Day on March 12th. Says Grimm, “This holiday fuels a passion for gardening enthusiasts looking forward to the approaching first day of Spring.”

National Plant a Flower Day motivates gardeners to plan their magnificent outdoor works of art. Cold climate gardeners plant seeds indoors and later transfer them into the earth when the weather is the appropriate temperature.

The Gardener’s Friends (TGF) also plans to celebrate the holiday by planting new seeds, but the seeds will be ideas for new products. Says, Paul, “It is a very exciting time for the Company as we expand the current product line, (Ratchet Pruners, Mini-Loppers and the new Folding Pruning Saw.) “Excitement grows even further about mnay other new products still in the planning stage.

The Gardener’s Friends, (TGF) a brand of The Valspring Group was developed in 2013 by veteran gardener/Nurseryman, Paul Grimm. Grimm’s experience with pain and difficulty using gardening tools led to the development of The Gardener’s Friends ergonomic gardening tools. Grimm’s research confirmed that thousands of gardeners suffer a similar plight. Additionally, research indicates that arthritic disease does not discriminate based on age. According to The National Academy on an Aging Society, seniors with immobility due to arthritic disease only accounts for 12% of the US population. Looking at the entire population, half aged 65 and younger, including 200,000 children are afflicted. The National Gardening Association reported the health benefits of gardening. If gardeners spend one hour a day gardening five days a week, they can burn 1250 calories. But the benefits go beyond the obvious physical activity. Scarborough reported that 80% of gardeners are “satisfied” with their lives. The Australian Research Project added that the act of gardening fulfills every essential human need – being, doing, having fun and interacting. Grimm says, “Gardening is a growing hobby for all ages and is a calling for The Gardener’s Friends to help people continue a good quality of life while fulfilling their passion for gardening.”
