Village Farms Tiny Homes Community In Austin Now Selling Properties
April 30, 2018 – – AUSTIN — A developer of tiny homes is proud to announce that their Village Farm Austin community is open and they are now selling homes. Village Farm Austin believes in quality over quantity and aims to provide a community in which people can live simply and in a sustainable manner. Those interested are encouraged to view the community’s website for more information.
Cynthia Edwards from Village Farm Austin says: “Environmental stewardship is a cornerstone of Village Farms. Together, we can make a difference by reducing our carbon footprint and getting back to basics. But not too basic. At Village Farm, we strike the perfect balance between sustainable living and modern convenience.”
The new tiny homes community will initially have 40 home lots. However, expansion plans are already in place and phase 2 will add a further 112 lots. The community will also have a cafe and general store, pathways and sidewalks between the homes, a community kitchen, gardens, farms, a school, commercial areas, and neighborhood pocket parks. The overall goal is to create a traditional village, but one that has a modern feel at the same time. Edwards continues: “A wide variety of activities and events, including pop-up restaurant nights, a weekly farmers market and cooking classes for kids and adults, will foster community engagement and connectivity among residents.”
The tiny homes are small in space and low in cost, but very big in character. Each property is free standing and various models, ranging from 250 to 399 square feet, are available. The design is done in a sustainable manner, using environmentally friendly materials and a lean construction process. All roofs will hold solar panels, smart rain gardens are installed, and all fixtures and appliances are energy efficient.
“We have been inspired by Eleanor Roosevelt,” says Edwards, “who said: ‘A little simplicity would be the first step toward rational living, I think.’ For us, this is what the tiny homes village is all about. It is about being connected to one another, and also to the planet.” Those interested are encouraged to visit the Village Farms Austin website, where they can also view a video of one of the tiny homes.
