VIStrong Launches Campaign Providing Hurricane Irma Relief for USVI

In an effort to help the hard-hit U.S. Virgin Islands recover from the recent onslaught of Category 5 Hurricane Irma, VIStrong.org has launched a relief effort

With 150 mph winds, and gusts even higher, the U.S. Virgin Islands were left decimated after the onslaught of Hurricane Irma. For four hours, Irma continued to ravage the islands leaving two dead and virtually everyone else on the Islands without power or resources. Unfortunately, many Virgin Islands feel as though they have been forgotten by the U.S. and government, after Irma’s onslaught to the continental U.S. in Florida.

In an effort to provide those in the Virgin Islands with the resources they need, VIStrong has launched a campaign to provide relief to those in this area that was all but destroyed.

“There are many around the world who don’t know Our Story, but the U.S. Virgin Islands received extensive damage from the storm and we are still struggling to clean up and get things restored to a sense of normalcy,” stated VIStrong representative Dustin Washington. “We have combined an Amazon wish list, along with various staging areas to ship consolidated supplies to those who were gravely affected by Hurricane Irma in the Caribbean. We are trying to find out what the people of the islands are stating Our Needs are and provide these essential items.”

Those interested in helping with the relief effort can go online to Donate. In addition to the Amazon wish list, where items such as batteries, generators, water and more are listed, there is also a Go Fund Me account where those interested can make monetary donations. All of this is accessible through the secure, VIStrong.org site.

“We want to make sure that those in the Virgin Islands, and other locations in the Caribbean, know they have not been forgotten,” continued Washington. “We will continue our efforts to ensure those living in this hard hit area have what they need to begin rebuilding their lives.”
