Winners Of 2016 AFMTE Awards On Massage Therapy Education Announced

July 18, 2016 – – The 2016 AFMTE, Biofreeze, Bon Vital’ Educators of the Year awards have just been held and the winners have been announced. This is the 4th year that this award ceremony was held, and the winners will be featured at the Educational Congress Conference in Tucson, AZ in July 2017. The Alliance for Massage Therapy Education (AFMTE) is very happy to announce that the 2016 Educator of Year Winners are Dale Alexander for the continuing education category and Julie Goodwin for the teacher category.

Julie Goodwin says: “To me, teachers are the ultimate dreamers: I begin each class with the feeling of ‘What if…’ in my mind, and the hope that I can bring my students along on that journey. As massage educators, this is our challenge, our responsibility, and our joy.”

The 2017 Educational Congress will be held in July 2017, and both Julie Goodwin and Dale Alexander will be speakers at that event. People are encouraged to mark the date in their calendars and to purchase their tickets as early as possible. There is also an opportunity for sponsors and keynote speakers to register for the event. Dale Alexander provides continuing education specific to the massage therapy profession. He has completed numerous advanced studies with esteemed colleagues, and this has led to an enhanced understanding of the aging process’ normal progression. Alexander says: “We may not help every person, yet, we can assist many more than we ever imagined. This is the inspiration of touch and movement therapies.”

The AMFTE places the continuous education of its members at the core of its mission. They have clearly listed the NTESP core competencies required of those in this profession on their website. Furthermore, these were highlighted at the 2016 Educational Congress, and both Dale Alexander and Julie Goodwin have demonstrated their personal commitment to the NTESP core competencies as well. Additionally, the AFMTE is currently working on creating an educational program to meet these core competencies. It is expected that it will take between five and ten years for this to be completed.
