Xarelto Lawsuit Dates Set For Bellwether Trials

November 06, 2015 – – BloodThinnerHelp.com reports on bellwether trial dates which were announced for the Xarelto Lawsuit multidistrict litigation no. 2592. According to recent court records, four bellwether trial dates have currently been set. The first will begin on February 6th, 2017, and the other trials will begin March 13, 2017, April 24, 2017, and May 30, 2017. These lawsuits share common allegations that the drug caused uncontrollable bleeding when taken by the plaintiffs, including brain hemorrhages, and other internal bleeding episodes requiring hospitalization and blood transfusions, which, in multiple cases, resulted in death.

Plaintiffs are pleased that the Xarelto lawsuits have now been assigned trial dates, and support the formation of the MDL, knowing that it is designed to help legal proceedings more quickly and efficiently, to avoid duplicate discovery, and to save money for all involved. As plaintiffs and their attorneys are aware, the bellwether trials will help to set the tone moving forward.

Xarelto was approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in 2011, and initially came on the scene of a blockbuster new type of blood thinner. Since that time, it has been the subject of several severe FDA warnings and around 2,000 lawsuits. One of the reasons that many now consider Xarelto to be so dangerous is its lack of antidote. If someone taking Xarelto injures themselves and begins to bleed, physicians are not able to counteract the effects of the drug, therefore, they cannot get the patient’s blood to clot. In these cases, doctors have to resort to life saving measures such as blood transfusions.

Traditional blood thinners do not have this issue. They respond to vitamin K, which is also why patients using these drugs have to maintain special diets. If someone using a traditional type of blood thinner is injured and bleeding, physicians administer vitamin K and it reverses the effects of the medication, allowing their blood to clot.

As Xarelto lawsuits continue to be filed across the United States, attorney Marc Goldich is working to ensure that anyone who has experienced adverse health effects after taking the drug is able to explore their legal rights. He offers free and confidential consultations for these individuals, who may be entitled to compensation.
