Xarelto Lawsuit MDL Cases Now Surpass 2,800 In Number According To Plaintiff Reports
December 30, 2015 – – BloodThinnerHelp.com announces recent reports from Xarelto lawsuit plaintiffs involved in multidistrict litigation number 2592, which indicate that included cases now number over 2,800. Plaintiffs similarly allege that the blood thinner can cause dangerous uncontrollable bleeding episodes and that Xarelto manufacturers Bayer AG and Janssen Pharmaceuticals neglected to properly warn consumers and doctors about the risks associated with the lack of available antidote for the blood thinner.
Reports from the U.S. Judicial Panel for Multidistrict Litigation noted the increasing number of lawsuits filed against the manufacturers alleging the dangers of the anticoagulant. In mid-October, they noted that MDL lawsuits numbered 1,698, in November, cases numbered 2,266, and as of December 15th, 2015, cases were reported to number 2,400. Today, as January 2016 is almost here, plaintiffs indicate that MDL cases have surpassed 2,800 in number. Those involved expect these numbers to continue to rise as time goes on.
Xarelto’s lack of antidote is an issue at the center of these lawsuits, due to the significant dangers that it presents. Without an antidote to clot blood, someone who has Xarelto in their system can be in incredible danger of developing uncontrollable bleeding after even a minor injury. In these instances, doctors have to use extreme, life-saving measures like blood transfusions or surgery. Even after these attempts, patients can suffer from too much blood loss and die.
Other traditional blood thinners do not have this problem, because they have an available antidote. When patients using traditional blood thinners become injured and bleed, physicians can administer vitamin K which will counter the effects of the drug and allow their blood to clot. The availability of this antidote can mean the difference between life and death for patients requiring the use of a blood thinner.
Bellwether trials for these cases are scheduled for early 2017. In the meantime, Attorney Joseph Osborne is working to ensure that everyone who may have been negatively affected by Xarelto will also be given the opportunity to explore their legal rights. These individuals may be entitled to significant compensation. Attorney Osborne is offering free Xarelto consultations at this time.
