Yoga Mat Manufacturer Campaigns To Have Yoga Included In Physical Education Classes

January 15, 2016 – – Yoga mat manufacturer Now Athletics, LLC, based in Providence, RI, wants yoga to be included in the school curriculum. They have been happy to see that there has been an increase in the number of children doing yoga. This came after a study that demonstrated children have improved concentration abilities when they practice yoga. As a result, Now Athletics, LLC has started a campaign to make yoga part of Physical Education classes in schools. Full details about the company are available at www.nowathletics.net.

Per Davidson, spokesperson for Now Athletics, LLC, says: “When we created our yoga mat, we had a singular goal in mind: to make yoga safer and more accessible to the masses. Our mat is an eco mat, meaning it doesn’t contain any harmful chemicals. This makes it safe for use by anyone, including babies and young children. We would love to see more schools understand how yoga can help children, so we have started a campaign to get schools involved by offering it as part of their Physical Education curriculum.”

To make this possible, Now Athletics, LLC has partnered with Yoga in Schools, an organization that promotes the benefits of yoga among children. Together, they will be contacting various schools across the country in an effort to introduce the discipline to them. The Yoga in Schools’ vision is to empower teachers and students alike with exercises inspired by yoga, to help them promote lifetime wellness. They want to ensure yoga is available in every school across the country, thereby helping teachers and students to have greater mind-body awareness and thereby being able to nurture their own well being.

The work done by Yoga in Schools, together with Now Athletics, LLC, have been very positively received. “I can see the benefits in promoting yoga as a lifetime fitness option,” says Anne Kelly, Health and PE K-5, Allegheny K-5, Pittsburgh Public Schools. “Our students can really enjoy getting in tune with their minds and bodies as a whole as opposed to separate entities.”

People are encouraged to join the campaign and ask their schools to consider adding the discipline of yoga to their Physical Education curriculum by contacting either Now Athletics, LLC or Yoga in Schools.
