November 29, 2016 – –

KINGSTON, JM – Kimani Young was a main speaker at the press launch for the recently concluded Small Business Marketing Event, held at the University of Technology on November 16. The young entrepreneur, who earns a monthly income by working online fulltime, was representing Internet Income Jamaica, whose principals, Alicia and Lorette Lyttle, were scheduled to speak at the main event in observation of Global Entrepreneurship Week.

In speaking at the press launch, Young shared with guests the impact that internet freelancing could have on the local economy. His motivating speech described his own journey to becoming an online entrepreneur and trainer at Internet Income Jamaica, and outlined some of the benefits to be received from freelancing.

“I motivated the crowd and gave them insights into the world of freelancing online and why this is the solution to Jamaica’s unemployment and underemployment problems.” – Kimani Young.

Young, a former school teacher, turned to working online after losing his position and becoming unemployed. According to Young, his freelancing business took off and, very soon, his earnings surpassed the salary he made as an educator.

Kimani Young’s story mirrors those of a growing number of Jamaicans, who have also turned to working online, either for fulltime or part time employment. Internet Income Jamaica has been a pioneer behind the local movement, successfully training hundreds of people from all across the island how to make money online since 2013.

The speech made by Young at the press launch of the Small Business Marketing Event served to get patrons acquainted with the world of online entrepreneurship, ahead of presentations made by Alicia and Lorette Lyttle at the main event. The sisters, who also hosted a special workshop at the Global Entrepreneurship Week event for business leaders, spoke to entrepreneurs and students about the importance of social media and internet marketing.
