Zara Tours Invites Climbers To Join In Cleaning Up Mount Kilimanjaro

Moshi, Tanzania, 08/12/2016 /SubmitPressRelease123/

The special Clean Up Kilimanjaro climb, hosted by Zara Tours twice a year to keep the mountain looking clean and pristine, will take place October 1-7, 2016. Climbers will receive a special 15 percent discount in exchange for assisting Zara Tours with this project, as the company continues to focus on ways to be environmentally conscious and to preserve the majesty of the Mount Kilimanjaro.

During this event, all Zara porters, as well as many other porters belonging to the Mount Kilimanjaro Porter Society, will work together with visiting climbers to clean up the mountain from any trash or other items that have been left behind by hikers over the past few months. By volunteering for this project, climbers will be able to enjoy the same majestic climb at a lower rate, and a full 20 percent of the fee paid will go to the Zara Charity projects that are ongoing in Tanzania. For this trip, the group will ascend the mountain using the Machame Route, a longer, more scenic trail that is also known as the “Whiskey Route.”

Zara Tours has always prioritized efforts to conserve the land and the heritage of Tanzania, across which they guide thousands of tourists annually from around the world. The Tanzania Tourist Board gave Zara the Sustainable Tourism Award in 2011, and 85 percent of the funds from their safari and climbing tours is funneled back into the surrounding communities, boosting the local economy and protecting their country’s land and animals.
