2016 Brings Bellwether Case Selection For Xarelto Lawsuit Plaintiffs In MDL 2592
January 05, 2016 – – BloodThinnerHelp.com reports on case selection for lawsuits consolidated in Xarelto bleeding lawsuits under multidistrict litigation number 2592, which are set to begin in exactly one week on January 11th, 2016. The MDL is being overseen by Judge Eldon Fallon in the Eastern District of Louisiana. Today, lawsuits involved number over 2,200, all which contain synonymous allegations against Bayer AG and Janssen Pharmaceuticals’ (a division of Johnson & Johnson) anticoagulant drug, Xarelto.
Once thought of as revolutionary, Xarelto has now become known by many as the most dangerous blood thinner on the market today. This unfortunate title has been given to the drug due to the fact that it was released to the market without any available antidote.
The lack of antidote means that if someone with Xarelto in their system begins to bleed, even from a seemingly minor injury, physicians may be unable to clot their blood by countering the effects of Xarelto. In these circumstances, a patient could quickly lose significant blood, so doctors must resort to extreme life-saving measures, such as surgery or blood transfusions. Without an antidote, an injury could easily mean death.
Traditional blood thinners were released to market with an available antidote. When patients using these blood thinners begin to bleed, physicians are able to treat them with vitamin K. This treatment will counter the effects of the blood thinner and allow the patient’s blood to clot. This difference can be a life-saving one.
Plaintiffs involved in Xarelto multidistrict litigation also allege that the drug put them at an increased risk for dangerous, uncontrollable bleeding. Since the formation of the Xarelto MDL, lawsuit numbers have rapidly increased. These numbers are expected to continue to rise as time moves on.
The bellwether trial selection process is set to begin next week: January 11th, 2016. Attorney Joseph Osborne is looking to help everyone who has suffered from adverse health events after using Xarelto. He wants to ensure that these individuals will have the opportunity to explore their legal rights. They may be entitled to significant compensation. Attorney Osborne is now offering free legal consultations to those affected.
