Xarelto Lawsuits In Philadelphia Mass Tort Group Allege Blood Thinner Causes Uncontrollable Bleeding Risks
February 12, 2016 – – BloodThinnerHelp.com reports on the steady increase of Xarelto lawsuit numbers being consolidated to form a mass tort group in Philadelphia, Pennyslvania by the Court of Common Pleas. These lawsuits were commonly filed against defendants Bayer AG and Janssen Pharmaceuticals, (whose parent company is corporate giant Johnson & Johnson).
Involved plaintiffs similarly allege that blood-thinning drug Xarelto puts patients at increased risk of suffering from sudden uncontrollable bleeding episodes as well as several other serious and potentially fatal side effects. At this time, the mass tort group reportedly involves over 550 cases.
The plaintiffs who have stepped forward to file these lawsuits are not alone in their allegations. In New Orleans, Louisiana more than 2,800 other Xarelto lawsuits have been consolidated to form MDL 2592. These cases were transferred to a single court after being filed in federal courts across the nation, and were filed by plaintiffs who are making very similar allegations against Janssen and Bayer. Some plaintiffs involved in the lawsuits have filed on behalf of loved ones who have passed away after suffering from uncontrollable bleeding episodes while taking Xarelto.
Not only do plaintiffs in each group of cases allege that the blood thinner has uncontrollable bleeding risks, they also allege that manufacturers failed to adequately inform the consumers about these risks, and used misleading advertising tactics to focus solely on the benefits of the new-generation anticoagulant. It was additionally noted that Xarelto marketing relied on celebrity endorsements from well-known athletes.
Cases in both the Pennsylvania and Louisiana groupings continue to grow in number as they are prepared for trial. Plaintiffs find hope from the results of recent lawsuits filed against similar blood thinner Pradaxa, which ended in a settlement.
Attorney Joseph Osborne is now working to help ensure that all people who may have suffered from uncontrollable bleeding while taking Xarelto will have the opportunity to investigate their legal options. These individuals and their families may be entitled to legal action and substantial compensation. To encourage their pursuit of justice as these other consolidated cases await trial, Attorney Osborne is offering free legal consultations for affected patients.
