Scientific and Graphing Calculator App Turns Cell Phone into High Powered Calculator, Now Available With Lockdown Feature for In-School Use

GraphLock is an application that will turn a user’s phone into a fully functionable scientific and graphing calculator

LOS ANGELES, CA / ACCESSWIRE / February 23, 2016 / Mallory Dyer is proud to introduce GraphLock, a scientific calculator app that can turn any Android phone into a high powered graph and scientific calculator. The app is now available to Download for Android.

The difference between GraphLock and other calculator apps is its unique lockdown feature that disables all phone functions (calls, texts, notifications, internet), and turns the user’s phone solely into a calculator.

This makes the app suitable for in-school use, and is the only app on the market that is allowed in the classroom and testing environments.

When the lockdown mode is utilized, all normal phone functions are disabled, and the user will not be able to close out of the app or get into any other apps until the correct passcode is entered or the lockdown timer runs out. The passcode can be set or provided by the teacher during tests or regular classroom use.

GraphLock is a free app with an upgradable option once the app is downloaded and installed. The free version contains a scientific and graphing calculator, while the paid version contains the lockdown capabilities and will remove all advertisements.

“Once the user has upgraded to the paid version, per school policy, the user will be able to use GraphLock in testing environments and classrooms,” says the website.

The app can be used in either lockdown mode or non-lockdown mode according to the discretion of the teacher or environment of study. To exit lockdown mode, the user will select “tap to unlock” where the password request prompt will appear. The correct passcode must be entered by the instructor or student to unlock the phone or it will unlock once the timer runs out.

Developed by Zapporoo, the scientific calculator capabilities will include arithmetic functions, exponentiation, Square root, Nth root, natural log, absolute value, trig values, radians, and degrees.

The graphing capabilities will include graphing of up to five equations at once where the graphs will be color coded and labeled. Users may hit or drag and pinch to zoom in and out (instead of setting a specific window), and coming soon users may find roots, intersections, trace the graph, maximums, and minimums.

Calculators can be expensive and bulky, so to replace them with a device that most people carry around anyway is an investment that saves both space and money.

About Mallory Dyer and GraphLock:

Mallory Dyer is the creator of GraphLock and a Professor of Mathematics at Central Arizona College in Coolidge, Arizona. Having been in academia for the larger part of her life, Mrs. Dyer was always saddened by seeing under privileged children lack calculators and struggle with math as a result. She created the app as a low-cost, convenient alternative to a tool which students not only need, but that carry in their pockets anyway.
