Florida Woman Pursues E-Cigarette Explosion Lawsuit Following Alleged Injuries And Car Fire

May 26, 2016 – – LipsigLawyers.com reports on concerning details from a news release from Naples Daily News discussing a Florida woman who says that she had just parked the rental car she was using at a friend’s home when she stopped to smoke her e-cigarette and charge her phone. The 30-year -old woman states that as she raised the e-cigarette to her lips and pressed its button, the device exploded in her mouth. She alleges that the explosion knocked her teeth loose and sent the device forcefully out of her hand. The rental car, she says, became engulfed in flames.

The woman has reportedly since gone on to pursue legal action following the incident. As the article notes, this unfortunate occurrence is not the only one to have recently happened in Southwest Florida. A man from Naples was reportedly injured when his e-cigarette also exploded in his mouth. The man chose to file a lawsuit as well after enduring his injuries.

According to FEMA, from the years 2009 to 2014 there has been 25 e-cigarette related explosion incidents reported by mainstream media. This number may likely be much higher given the possible number of unreported incidents.

As more people turn to e-cigarette use in an attempt to quit traditional cigarette smoking, these occurrences appear to be happening with increasing frequency.
