Exploding E-Cig Seriously Injures Oklahoma City Teen, Stems Potential E-Cigarette Explosion Lawsuit

July 01, 2016 – – Attorney Marc Freund of LipsigLawyers.com recently commented on an e-cigarette explosion that occurred in Oklahoma City and left the victim with severe burns. Freund is thankful that the local man was at work, and was wearing gloves. He notes that without the gloves, the victim may have sustained far more extensive injuries, as many other victims have regrettably sustained in other e-cigarette explosion cases.

As indicated in a local news report from KSN.com, on April 18th, a local 19-year-old Oklahoma City man was left with second and third-degree burns to his hands and legs, following his e-cigarette igniting in his pocket. After which, the victim attempted to throw the burning battery away from himself. To his dismay, the battery stuck to his glove and he simultaneously suffered severe burns to his legs and hands. The Oklahoma City native claims that he has never felt more pain in his life, and never expected an incident of this nature to happen to him. Admirably, in contrary to the norm, an Oklahoma City Vapor Lounge owner warns each potential e-cig user of their associated dangers. The owner noted that many first-time users are unaware that there are any potential dangers of e-cigarette use at all.

This incident marks the 8th e-cigarette explosion in Oklahoma since 2009, which is the among the top 3 highest state totals of reported e-cigarette explosions to date, as reported by a timeline generated by TheProductLawyers.com. Oklahoma’s total of 8, is the third highest state total, the only two states with higher totals of such incidents are California (19) and Arizona (11). The rate of occurrence has risen exponentially in the last 3.5 years, with yearly totals increasing from 28 incidents in 2013 to 38 in 2014, 47 in 2015, and 77 thus far in 2016.
