Following E-Cig Explosion Idaho Man Requires Skin Grafting, As E-Cigarette Explosion Lawsuit Case Total Increases
July 01, 2016 – – Attorney Marc Freund, a partner at the firm behind LipsigLawyers.com, recently commented on a development in Idaho Falls, Idaho, where a local man sustained third-degree burns when his e-cigarette exploded in his pocket. Freund wishes the Idaho man a speedy and complete recovery and hopes that there were no further complications from the man’s skin grafting procedure. Attorney Freund also notes that as the popularity for e-cigarettes has grown, the number of explosions has also grown significantly.
A local news report from ABC affiliate Local News 8 reported that on April 13th, a local Idaho Falls man sustained third-degree burns after his e-cigarette began to burn and, “shot white flames out of the side of his pocket.” The victim claims that he switched to e-cigarettes after smoking regular cigarettes for 12 years, mainly because of his belief that e-cigarettes were a safer alternative to traditional cigarettes. After the incident, the victim wishes that he had never picked up the e-cigarette device that left him covered in bandages in a local hospital.
FEMA had previously indicated that there were 25 reported e-cigarette explosions from 2009 to 2014, however, a detailed timeline created by TheProductLawyers.com concluded that there have been 199 reported e-cig explosions since 2009. This is the first e-cigarette explosion that has occurred in Idaho to date. Some states such as California and Arizona have seen at least 10 such incidents since 2009. The rate of occurrence has also increased on a yearly basis, from a total reported number of explosions in 2013 of 28 to a total of 38 in 2014, 47 in 2015, and a running total of 77 such incidents already in 2016.
Attorney Marc Freund of Lipsig, Shapey, Manus, & Moverman is currently offering all victims the opportunity to explore their complete legal rights and potential course of action, through a complimentary legal consultation. Freund notes that some victims will be entitled to legal action and financial compensation.
