Outside the Box Features Blues Music with a LGBT Theme

As a spokesperson for the new album noted, Outside the Box is a unique, cross genre blues album that features LGBT themes—something that is exceedingly rare within the blues genre.

Nagoda himself is an openly gay blues musician who realized along the way that there are few, if any, songs within the genre that portrayed his sexuality without a negative light.

His decision was to create an album that reflected his own journey and gave the LGBT community a blues album that pertains to their experiences.

“Nagoda has always been passionate about music; he tried a few instruments and techniques before he began playing guitar with a double slide method to accommodate a physical disability,” the spokesperson noted, adding that from an early age, Nagoda has enjoyed a variety of music types including classical, progressive rock, heavy metal, and his beloved blues.

“Having been born with cerebral palsy, regular guitar playing caused too much pain, and the typical slide method was not giving him the musical freedom he longed for. By learning double slide, he was able to create the sounds he sought and spectacular, highly emotive blues guitar music.”

Nagoda will be backed on this album by the Spectrum Blues Band. Some award winning musicians will be joining Nagoda as guests, including harmonica player Liam Ward and blues guitarist Frank Cosentino. Also on board are Jazz fusion guitarist Robb Cappelletto and Nagoda’s mentor, double slide guitarist Brian Cober.

In order to help pay for some of the studio and other costs related to producing his new album, Nagoda recently launched a fundraiser on Indiegogo. There, he hopes to raise $2,000 through crowdfunding.
