Voyager 2 Speculation Brings Readers To Wonder About “Battlefield Earth”
As speculation that the Voyager 2 has been hacked by aliens, readers have wondered if the storyline in L. Ron Hubbard’s science fiction novel Battlefield Earth may become a reality.

As the Voyager 1 goes where no man or manmade object has gone before, speculation continues as to just what it may find in interstellar space. Borucki, a NASA scientist, says the evidence says no one’s out there, but there are those who believe otherwise.
The Voyager 1 space probe was launched by NASA on September 5th, 1977 and 16 days later, Voyager 2 was sent out. When some strange sounds were received from Voyager 2, the internet went ablaze with speculations that Voyager 2 was high jacked. NASA expert Kevin Baines said that at a distance of about 15 billion kilometers from Earth, the probe suddenly started sending data in a language which they could never understand.
Science fiction stories and movies give different possibilities of the outcome when Voyager 1 or 2 is located, such as an unfriendly encounter as depicted by L. Ron Hubbard in his 1982 novel, “Battlefield Earth.” Then there was “Star Trek: The Motion Picture”, where Voyager 6 returned as an all-knowing machine. Many remember the 1979 film and the famous “V-ger.”
Hubbard’s scenario is similar to that of astrophysicist Stephen Hawking who warned, “Humanity should be wary of seeking out contact with aliens. Intelligent aliens may be rapacious marauders, roaming the cosmos in search of resources to plunder and planets to conquer and colonize.” In Battlefield Earth, the reply we received from Voyager 1 was not a friendly reach out from another race, but rather a wipe out of mankind for the new race to come in and mine the resources of the planet―namely gold.
As speculation that the Voyager 2 has been hacked by aliens, readers have wondered if the storyline in L. Ron Hubbard’s science fiction novel “Battlefield Earth” may become a reality. The novel was re-released in 2016 with cover art by Frank Frazetta depicting his vision of the fight between the humans and the cruel alien overlord. The book has sold over 4.1 million copies and fans have recently posted on social media wondering if Hubbard may have been onto something.
With 19 New York Times bestsellers and more than 350 million copies of his works in circulation, L. Ron Hubbard is among the most acclaimed and widely read authors of our time. In celebration of his fiftieth anniversary as an author, he again returned to the forefront of popular literature with his monumental epics “Battlefield Earth” and the ten-volume “Mission Earth” series. Together, these titles dominated international bestseller lists for 153 weeks, and still remain among the all-time classic works of modern speculative fiction.
