As a spokesperson for the Ice Chalice noted, Sorel’s invention will be part of the future of iced coffee. The Ice Chalice will include a funnel top, canister, and cooling discs that will “charge” in the refrigerator. When someone is in the mood for a tasty glass of iced coffee, he or she will brew fresh coffee and pour it into the machine, which will cool it quickly and efficiently. Then, the coffee lover simply needs to pour the now-iced coffee out of the Ice Chalice into a glass.

“This is a product over three years in the making that we haven’t produced yet commercially because of lack of funding,” the spokesperson noted, adding that as Sorel is quickly finding out, constructing this type of device is quite expensive.

“There will be a lot of aluminum and stainless steel involved in the Ice Chalice, making it quite costly.”

In order to help pay for the materials that Sorel needs to start constructing the Ice Chalice and bringing it to market, he recently launched a fundraiser on Indiegogo. There, he hopes to raise $20,000 through crowdfunding to help people enjoy a cold cup of Joe, one iced coffee at a time.

Most of the money that Sorel raises will go towards producing his first Ice Chalices, which will be shipped to the people who fund his campaign. The rest of the donations will be used to jumpstart the commercial production of the innovative coffee chiller.
