Hurricane Harvey Moves the Markets says Coffee with Markus

September 01, 2017 – – Markus Heitkoetter, the host of Coffee with Markus, didn’t join the program on Monday morning, as he is in transit back to Texas after spending a week in Singapore. Mark Hodge, the Head Coach at Rockwell Trading, covered the show. After stints with Morgan Stanley Dean Witter and American Express Financial Advisors, Mark discovered that his real passion was trading. With a trading and investment background that spans more than 15 years, Mark’s expertise lies in the short term trading of stocks, options, and futures.

Like Markus, Mark also started the day looking at the key market indices. He said markets are moving nicely over the last couple of days. He then looked at the economic calendar to predict any extra movement in the markets.

He also commented on the latest hurricane, which could significantly influence stock markets, particularly crude oil and gasoline markets, as several refineries are situated in Texas. Mark believes Hurricane Harvey could have the higher impact on gasoline prices compared to oil prices.

Texas is a hub for gasoline operators and the Hurricane could have a huge impact on supply and demand dynamics, suggesting a potential hike in gasoline price.
