Response and recovery organization, Tuesday’s Children announces promotional partnership for the new movie, “9/11” in honor and remembrance of those people impacted by the September 11 tragedy.

The 911 movie will be released on September 8, 2017 and features a cast led by Charlie Sheen, Whoopi Goldberg, Luis Guzmán (The Taking of Pelham 123), Gina Gershon (Showgirls), Wood Harris (Justified), Jacqueline Bisset (Dancing on the Edge (BBC), Welcome to New York), Olga Fonda (The Vampire Diaries) and Bruce Davison (ABC TV’s: The Fosters).

Tuesday’s Children provides personalized support and a safe “landing place” for traumatized, grief-stricken children, families and communities left reeling from terrorism or traumatic loss. Their proven, long-term approach to helping family members and communities recover was forged in the aftermath of Tuesday, September 11, 2001. Tuesday’s Children’s programs help their constituents recover, heal and ultimately…thrive.

According to Tuesday’s Children, 1,609 people lost a spouse, 600,000 people were exposed to harmful toxins at the World Trade Center site, 12% of responders have been diagnosed with PTSD and show cognitive impairment, 3,051 children lost a parent and 2,977 individuals from more than 90 nations were killed in the 9/11 tragedy.

Terry Sears, Executive Director of Tuesday’s Children, who spoke at the 911 movie private premiere on August 29, said, “Tuesday’s Children is proud to offer the same life-changing programs for the military community as we did for those who lost a loved one on September 11th. More than 2.3 million U.S. troops have been deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan since 9/11, meaning that 2.3 million families have been impacted by the event. Since 2000, over 61,000 global terrorist incidents have caused more than 140,000 deaths and 6,639 U.S. military killed globally in War on Terror.”

Tuesday’s Children also stated that an estimated 422,000 New Yorkers suffered from PTSD after 9/11 and over 33,000 people are suffering from 9/11-related illnesses; over 1,700 have died.

One of the main reasons director and co-writer of “9/11,” Martin Guigui wanted to see this movie made was to help people remember not only the tragedy of 9/11 but how so many people came together. He said, “I realized it was a story that had to be told, in order that it wouldn’t be forgotten.” Later adding, “Fifteen years ago, the country came together as one. Through this tragedy, we all experienced the same emotions, the same reactions. Fifteen years later, we’ve forgotten some of that. That’s why I wanted to dive into this film, this story.”

“One key to the authentic execution of the material was the inclusion of real-life firefighters, both as consultants and actors. Since they not only lived through the event but experienced the loss associated with it firsthand, with more than 300 of their brethren perishing in the line of duty on 9/11, they brought a level of “gravitas and emotion to the set. Every day, we could just feel their energy. We felt privileged to work alongside them and knew we had to get it right,” says Guigui.
