Fitzwilliam Lorry & Coach Driver Training Company Job Hunt Sponsor Announced

Fitzwilliam based lorry and coach driving training specialists, L&T Transport Training Services, has sponsored a Rothwell job hunter through their training. Andy Bardsley went from being made redundant to joining Tradeteam.

Fitzwilliam based lorry driver training company L&T Transport Training Services has sponsored a Rothwell job hunter through their heavy goods vehicle driver training test. Andy Bardsley was made redundant a year ago, and was offered a position as a lorry driver. However, first he needed to pass his LGV license – and L&T Transport Training Services helped him through it.

With the incentive of a job on the line, Andy signed up with L&T Transport Training Services, the Fitzwilliam based specialist. Then, in 2017, he passed his Class 2 test, which allowed him to drive larger rigid lorries. He joined Tradeteam in October.

However, Andy still needed to pass his Class 1 license, which would permit him to drive large articulated vehicles. This is where Jo Lloyd, a managing partner of L& T Transport Training Services, stepped in to help.

Jo said: “I’d met Andy a few times as he went through his Class 2 training and saw how it had helped him to get a job.”

They added: “Our policy has been to give something back to the local community and I felt that this was the perfect opportunity to sponsor someone who had the promise of a developing career once he had obtained the right driving skills and qualifications.”

With the support of L&T management behind him, Andy embarked on the additional training. In January, he passed his Class 1 LGV test.

Andy said: “The generosity of everyone at L&T supporting me in this way nearly brought me to tears. I’d never dealt with this type of company before and now cannot recommend them highly enough.”

L&T Transport Training Services was founded in 1986, and is a family run company that provides a full range of theory and practical training for lorry and coach drivers. It also provides car and trailer tuition for anyone wishing to tow safely. It is also an approved DVSA test centre.
