Personal Trainer Switches From Coaching Classes In The Park To Coaching Via FaceTime

Sutton Coldfield-based personal trainer, Rob Whalley, has switched from coaching in the park to taking classes via FaceTime and Skype.

April 14, 2020 / /

As people are urged to stay at home and gyms and public spaces have closed due to the coronavirus, personal trainer Rob Whalley, from I Want a Personal Trainer, has adapted the services he provides.

Prior to the pandemic, Rob offered coaching sessions in local parks, as well as client’s homes. Now that these options are not viable, the Sutton Coldfield trainer has changed tack and he is providing online, remote coaching to benefit customers during the lockdown.

Spending more time at home doesn’t mean that people have to be less active, and having more time available can actually make exercising at home more manageable. Providing access to remote sessions enables clients to keep up with training programmes and maintain their fitness levels, as well as offering an accessible solution for new customers who want to get fit.

Personal trainers are used to face-to-face coaching setups and group sessions, but the lockdown provides opportunities to open new doors. Remote coaching is available via innovative technology and trainers can offer tips on how to work out effectively at home. Many people who perhaps do not have the time to train regularly might now be interested in getting in shape and reaping the rewards of training. Personal trainers can engage with those keen to become more active, offering access to sessions and programmes via Skype and FaceTime.

Speaking about the transition to FaceTime and Skype training sessions, Rob Whalley said, “Two weeks in and my personal training business is going full steam ahead on FaceTime, halfway through a day of 8 sessions! Didn’t think it could possibly go this well two weeks ago, but shows how we can all adapt and thrive when we have to!” The demand for online training has increased dramatically since lockdown measures were introduced and the experience will enable personal trainers to diversify services in the future.

I Want a Personal Trainer has adapted teaching methods for clients and the business is also offering helpful tips and advice for people who want to work out at home on the blog. Recent articles cover home workout exercises and activities that are suitable for those who don’t have access to gym equipment.
