In the Nation’s Capital, Church of Scientology Volunteer Ministers Brave High Temperatures to Offer Help to All with Common Life Issues

Wearing their signature yellow shirts, Volunteer Ministers set up a large tent on the National Mall in Washington, DC, despite this year’s high temperatures. They offered free courses and information to the public to help them solve common life problems.

With the slogan “Something Can Be Done About It,” the Volunteer Ministers (VMs) launched the free assistance program on the National Mall in the U.S. Capital. The program was housed in three bright yellow tents which were manned by volunteers offering help to others. Despite temperatures in the 90s, many people visited the tents to find out more about the Volunteer Ministers program and the Church of Scientology.

A Volunteer Minister is trained and works to help his fellow man on a volunteer basis by restoring purpose, truth and spiritual values to the lives of others. The Volunteer Ministers were there to help people with any life problems they may be confronting. Thousands of people frequent the National Mall, which extends two miles between the Lincoln Memorial and the U.S. Capitol, with Washington Monument in the middle. The VM tents were conveniently placed to allow people to find out more and get personal help.

 The founder of a drug rehabilitation program was very interested in improving communication skills and increasing her understanding of people; she took several free booklets on various topics to improve her community work. A law enforcement official, was able to better understand people after reviewing the materials and data supplied by the Volunteer Ministers.

Free courses were offered at the tent or online to those who want to improve themselves and their communities with life skills training including: handling violence and upsets from substance abuse, improving one’s ability to study, improving communication skills, handling difficulties on the job, resolving conflicts, improving their family life, and improving relationships with others.

The Scientology Volunteer Ministers also respond in times of disaster and help by cleaning up debris, removing downed trees with chain saws, feeding and helping those in need, and helping to organize clothing, diapers, and other donations to those in need. Volunteer Ministers just responded to Hurricane Beryl and are now deploying to areas affected by Hurricane Debby.
