Essex Decorator Becomes a Finalist at the PDA Premier Trophy Awards 2024

J&N Finishes earns recognition as a finalist for the New Build category at the prestigious Premier Trophy Awards hosted by the Painting and Decorating Association.

A local decorating company is making headlines in Essex for reaching the finals of the highly coveted Premier Trophy Awards 2024. It’s no small feat, considering these awards include hundreds of decorating companies from across the country, all vying to be mentioned in the awards magazine. J&N Finishes has only been around since 2018, but that hasn’t stopped the company from making waves locally. It’s firmly established itself as a leading decorator in Essex but is now receiving more nationwide acclaim with a nomination as a finalist in the New Build category for the Premier Trophy Awards. 

A Top Four Finish In A First Final

J&N Finishes made it through the initial nomination stage and passed multiple judging periods to finish in fourth place as a “Commended” company in the New Build category. It achieved this feat for its work on the Grand Union Residents Facilities in London, developing a stunning new communal area for a group of flats. Part of its work included the design and decoration of a striking bowling alley and a complete renovation of the flat’s concierge area. 

Achieving fourth place is an almighty feat for several reasons. Firstly, it was the company’s first-ever nomination and final in the Premier Trophy Awards! Immediately going in and finishing as a “Commended” company is mightily impressive for this small painting and decorating business. Moreover, the other companies in this category are all extremely established brands that have either been nominated for awards or won multiple in the past. It shows the calibre of the competition – and it’s no surprise the owners are extremely proud of this remarkable achievement. 

This is surely just the beginning for a company founded by two friends with a shared passion. Nominations are already open for the 2025 Awards and J&N will be hoping to go one step further next year.

The Premier Trophy Awards is an annual awards ceremony hosted by the Painting and Decorating Association. 2024 marks the 35th anniversary of these awards, meaning the competition was bigger and better than ever before. Winners and runners-up are noted in the Premier Trophy Awards magazine, and there’s a gala where prizes are handed out on the 5th of October. The PDA is the largest association in the UK for painters, decorators and contractors. It is also celebrating an anniversary, with 2024 signalling 130 years of the PDA!
