Upcoming TEDxWilmington Salon To Discuss “Second Chances”
July 31: Special Half-Day Event at Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution
WILMINGTON, DE / ACCESSWIRE / July 7, 2015 / TEDxWilmington announced that it will host its next Salon event on Friday, July 31 from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution in New Castle, DE.
TEDxWilmingtonSalon is intended to re-engage the Wilmington community and team between official TEDx events and ignite discussion on issues of interest to the local community. This special half-day Salon will bring together a select number of notable community members to discuss the topic of second chances. Additionally, four Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution inmates will also participate, speaking about second chances and redemption.
“TEDxWilmingtonSalon has such an extraordinary and inspiring lineup of speakers, I’m confident that this event will energize and influence our community to keep the conversation of second chances on an on-going and impactful discussion,” said Ajit Mathew George, TEDxWilmington’s organizer.
Author, speaker, and radio host Dr. Dan Gottlieb will lead a talk entitled, “I Broke My Neck and My Soul Began to Breathe. Or The Gifts of Hopelessness.” His most recent book, “The Wisdom We’re Born With: Restoring Faith in Ourselves,” has won the praise of mental health professionals from around the nation.
“Let’s Talk About Mental Illness” will be led by Chris Darling, a community leader and the owner and founder of Darling SEO. Darling helps bridge the chasm between the stigma of mental illness and society’s reluctance to discuss it.
Leading the “Second Chances Shouldn’t be a Privilege” talk will be President & CEO of the Food Bank of Delaware Patricia Beebe. Beebe is known for her commitment to hunger relief efforts throughout the state.
Photographer Joe Del Tufo’s “Exercise Curiosity: The Wonder Right Under Your Nose” talk will explore his personal journey to discovery of the world.
The man behind the New Wilmington Art Association and downtown Wilmington’s Creative Vision Factory, Michael Kalmbach will host a talk entitled, “The Art Studio As Community Inclusion & NIMBY Reduction Strategy: The Story of The Creative Vision Factory.” Kalmbach is known for his passion for helping the community through art.
President & CEO of Great Dames, Inc. Sharon Hake will lead the “Discover Your Inner Leader” talk. Kelly is an inspirational connector of kindred spirits in the community.
Tickets for TEDxWilmingtonSalon are priced at $100 each. There are just 50 seats available to the general public.
