Most people know Don Henley from his days with the Eagles when he recorded so many hits that can heard on any classic rock station today. But in his newest album, Cass County, which will be released next month, Henley breaks all the rules of rock stardom.

“Don Henley is one of those stars would can pretty much do whatever he wants, and fans will still love him,” says a spokesman from Concert Bank, an independent online ticket seller. “But releasing a country and western album when you’re known as the classic rock guru is bold—even for Don Henley.”

Henley recently released a track from the new album titled “That Old Flame.” The song is a duet, and he sings it with Martina McBride. The song is about a couple who used to date, are although they both are hesitant to reunite, they admit that there is definitely a spark. McBride is only one of the guest singers on the new album, and Henley has said that he woke up one night in a panic, realizing that when he goes on tour, his guest singers won’t be there. Other people who appear on the new album are Merle Haggard, Miranda Lambert, Mick Jagger, Trisha Yearwood, Alison Krauss, Ashley Monroe, and Dolly Parton.

“Henley has made it clear that he’s not switching genres,” said the spokesman from Concert Bank, “but we believe that this bold move will open up the way for other musicians to be just as experimental with their own efforts.”

Cass County is Henley’s first solo effort in fifteen years, and so far, the reviews for the first release have been great. But Henley wants fans to know that he is not going all country. He says that the new album is simply an extension of his roots. “I’m associated with California a lot because of that other band that I play in, but I really and truly was born and raised in Cass County, Texas. I’m a Southerner and a Texan,” he said. “I have ancestors in Tennessee, Mississippi and Georgia. So this is a natural progression for me. It’s not me trying to do the ‘Don Henley country album.’ It’s who I am and where I come from.” Fans can see Henley perform songs from the new album when he goes on his tour this fall.

The album will be released on September 25th, and then Henley will begin a tour in October. “Since classic rock fans and now country western fans will likely be lining up to see Henley, we suggest that you purchase your tickets in advance in case they sell out,” said the spokesman.
