VW Class Action Attorneys Offer Free Consultation For Car Owners Affected By Volkswagen Recall
December 02, 2015 – – Volkswagen lawsuit intermediary VW Class Action Attorneys advise Volkswagen (VW) vehicle owners to seek legal consultation about their options to join a class action lawsuit and get compensation for Volkswagen emissions scandal. Thousands of people discovered themselves to be victims of fraud when one of the biggest scandals in the history of the car industry became public in September 2015.
On September 18, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced that VW had installed software on certain 2009–2015 model year 2.0 litre Volkswagen and Audi diesel vehicles to circumvent emissions tests. This software, or a “defeat device”, can detect when the car is undergoing emissions testing and changes the performance accordingly to improve results. Consequently, the hacked VW cars meet the emissions standards in the laboratory or testing station. The truth is revealed on the road, where engines switch out of this test mode and emit nitrogen oxides (NOx) up to 40 times as much as allowed by the Clean Air Act.
At first thought, many VW customers who have so far been satisfied with their car saw the emissions scandal as exaggerated. After all, the violation of emission standards does not present an imminent threat to health or safety. However, since the onset of the scandal, more and more VW vehicle owners are frustrated as bad news have continued to emerge. Not only has VW lied about the true emissions of their cars, which they heavily marketed as “green”, but they also may have sold cars that were markedly less fuel efficient than had been officially stated (http://www.reuters.com/article/2015/11/29/us-volkswagen-emissions-polo-idUSKBN0TI0ML20151129#FU7KD396BZg9DEPp.99).
As of now, VW is preparing a recall to fix the vehicles affected by the scandal. The fixes will presumably be software updates in case of the newest models, but older models probably need additional components installed. In any case, a fix could still be months away. Even worse: repairing the cars so they meet emission standards may mean a significant reduction in power and fuel economy, as well as the resale value.
There are over 34 class action lawsuits against VW in progress already, and growing number of VW owners seek to gain monetary compensation for diminution of value their cars. VW vehicle owners whose cars could be affected by the scandal are encouraged to seek legal advice in order to determine their eligibility and pursue legal action against VW.
