Xarelto Lawsuit Plaintiff Blames Negligence Of Blood Thinner Manufacturers For Husbandâs Death
January 04, 2016 – – BloodThinnerHelp.com reports on a lawsuit filed which highlights the dangerous side effects connected to anticoagulant Xarelto. This lawsuit, joined with many others, is consolidated in multidistrict litigation number 2592 by the U.S. Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation. The MDL, created to help simplify and fast-track the litigation, is being overseen by the Honorable Judge Eldon Fallon in the Eastern District of Louisiana.
This particular complaint was filed by a widow from Missouri who alleges that the negligence of Bayer Healthcare and Janssen Research, (a subdivision of Johnson & Johnson), ultimately caused her husband’s death.
Details within the court documents indicate that the woman’s husband was prescribed Xarelto in December of 2012 by his doctor. He took the drug up until he was admitted to an intensive care unit on May 4th of 2013 due to an intracerebral hemorrhage or brain bleed. Hospital staff attempted to save his life, but were unable to stop the fatal bleed due to the blood thinning drug which was still in his system.
As many others who have filed their own lawsuits against Xarelto say, the plaintiff states that if she and her husband had been made aware of the dangers associated with the drug, they would never have used it. Additionally, she states that the defendants failed to properly warn consumers or doctors about the dangers of Xarelto’s side effects, and may have even purposefully concealed information regarding the drug’s risks from the public, so as not to decrease their profits.
Across the U.S., Xarelto lawsuits continue increase in number. In federal court, they now number over 2,200, and are joined by another mass tort group in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania of around 500 cases. Plaintiffs involved share similar allegations about the blood thinner, which commonly note its lack of antidote and uncontrollable bleeding risks.
Attorney Joseph Osborne is working to ensure that as these cases await trial, everyone who has experienced adverse health effects after using Xarelto will have the option of fully exploring their legal rights. In order to accomplish this, he is currently offering complimentary legal consultations to those involved. It is believed that these people may be entitled to substantial compensation.
