About Face Brisbane, North Brisbane’s leading pain-free, non-surgical laser and cosmetic clinic is excited to offer its patients highly effective anti-aging facial treatments using one of the world’s leading lasers. Developed by Fotona Medical Laser (Fotona) in Slovenia, Europe, the machine uses two different types of laser technology to deliver the gold standard in skin rejuvenation – the TwinLight® procedure.

Dr Colin Campey, who has been a medical practitioner for over 40 years, explains “one of the exceptional features of the TwinLight® procedure is that it can be tailored precisely to suit each individual’s skin concerns. This is achieved through the combination of two different types of lasers – ablative and non-ablative. It really sets this treatment above more traditional treatments such as chemical peels, which offer far less accurate control over the treatment process.’

TwinLight laser treatments are the complete package and address a wide variety of skin concerns such as scarring, large pores, fine lines and wrinkles, pigmentation (including melasma), uneven skin texture and tone, protein and elastin loss, and a loss of facial volume. The two types of laser beams perform different but complementary functions; the Nd:YAG laser beam helps rejuvenate and stimulate the skin, while the Er:YAG beam promotes the formation of new, tighter, younger-looking skin.

The non-invasive laser treatment is a simple 4-step, walk-in, walk-out procedure. The first step stimulates the skin’s natural capacity to rejuvenate by passing the Nd YAG laser in FRAC3 mode over the skin. This creates a gentle heating, selectively targeting prematurely aged or damaged skin. The second step stimulates skin tightening by using the Nd YAG in PIANO mode, which creates bulk heating. Next, aged and sun damaged epidermis (outer layer of skin) is ablated with a fractional Er YAG laser, causing precise micro-ablated channels that will be replaced with new, tighter and healthy tissue as new skin forms. The final step involves gently ablating the skin with a light Er YAG ablative beam to remove superficial imperfections.

In regards to any pain experienced by patients during the procedure, Dr Campey advises “there is minimal discomfort involved but it is minimised with topical numbing cream and cooling during the procedure.”

Following treatments, patients can expect to experience mild swelling and redness for the first 24-48 hours. The skin will start to peel approximately 3-5 days after the treatment, revealing younger, healthy looking skin. As with all laser treatments, patients need to avoid direct sun exposure for at least a week post-treatment. The skin rejuvenation and healing process following the treatment is greatly assisted by the fact the TwinLight® procedure targets only the exact areas it needs to, leaving the surrounding, healthy skin untouched.

Patients with only minimal skin aging and superficial pigmentation may only require 1 treatment. Patients with severe sun damage and severe skin laxity may require up to 4 treatments.
