Appleton Restaurant Spices Up Fox Valley Music Scene

Osorio’s Latin Fusion restaurant in Appleton, WI debuts into the Fox Valley music scene with Music in the Alcove every Thursday; a new tradition promising to be a staple in local entertainment, bringing together innovative cuisine with local music in its signature Fusion style.

As the Fox Valley music scene continues to grow and expand, featuring local and regional musical talent across an ever-growing variety of music-friendly venues, a favorite Appleton restaurant has decided to pair its signature Latin Flair with Wisconsin’s own signature sound, with Music in the Alcove featured every Thursday evening from 5-8 pm.

Since its grand opening in 2012, Osorio’s Latin Fusion has been an ever-evolving influence in the Fox Valley restaurant scene, with their innovative, Latin-influenced concept and enthusiastic community involvement in the form of local charity events. This year, Osorio’s has branched out to incorporate the Fox Valley music scene into the restaurant’s unique ambience, with the goal of providing a truly one-of-a-kind dining experience to patrons.

“This is a true definition of our Fusion concept,” says Co-Owner and Executive Chef, Liborio Osorio. “Our vision is to bring the sensational Latin flavors together with international cuisine of many influences. Now we are combining our signature Latin Flair with the signature sounds of our Wisconsin home.”

Not to stray too far from the Latin Fusion concept that the Appleton restaurant is known for, the second Thursday of each month will feature traditional Mariachis wandering throughout the restaurant from 6-8 pm. The lineup for the remainder of the month features the music of local and regional musicians.

The idea for adding live music was sparked earlier this year, when Eau Claire musician, Jeff White, played an “audition” set in the alcove area of the bar. When Co-Owner/General Manager, Kim Finnell, strolled around the dining area, she realized the true potential of the restaurant’s existing acoustics.

“It was amazing,” Finnell says. “I knew it would be great to have live music in the bar area, but I didn’t realize that the acoustics of the dining room would be so perfect. From the alcove, we have engaging live music in the bar area, which translates to ideal background music in the dining area; ambience for everyone!”

With a once-monthly appearance since his debut performance in May, musician Jeff White – who recently performed at the famed Eaux Claires music festival in his hometown of Eau Claire, WI – names Music in the Alcove as one of his favorite gigs.

Of the ambience created by the particular combination of the Osorio’s Latin Fusion concept and the addition of local music, White – who is also a self-described foodie – declares with great enthusiasm, “There’s nothing better than to play the music I love, surrounded by warm, kind people serving up the most delicious food you can imagine. I absolutely love Osorio’s!”

Music in the Alcove at Osorio’s Latin Fusion happens Thursday evenings from 5-8 pm; Mariachis every second Thursday of the month perform for 6-8 pm. The current lineup through September 1st, 2016 is as follows:
