Art-A-Fair to help Alzheimer’s Orange County “Memories in the Making”

LAGUNA BEACH, CA / ACCESSWIRE / April 5, 2016 / The Art-A-Fair Foundation and Laguna Art-A-Fair in cooperation with Alzheimer’s Orange County announced their fundraiser for “Memories in the Making” to be held at Madison Square &
Garden Café in Laguna Beach on Sunday, May 1 from 4 to 7 p.m.

“Memories in the Making” is the signature program for
Alzheimer’s Orange County. The program provides a creative activity and quality art supplies for persons with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias.

This is what Brianne Ellsworth coordinator for Memories in the Making had to say about the program. “It is a creative outlet for self-expression, which is increasingly
important as verbal skills may decline. It is common for participants to paint memories from long ago or use images to express what they can no longer communicate using words.”

The event is open to the public and all are invited to enjoy an art filled evening at Madison Square & Garden Café. Restaurateur Jon Madison has graciously donated his beautiful venue and is providing hors d’oeuvres and drinks. Attendees will enjoy the uplifting music of BATTISTA Spanish Guitar with Latin percussion. During the event, Laguna Beach’s beloved artist Hugo Rivera will be painting live on a 72″ x 48″ ONSIA Sound Art canvas.

Steve Ventre, president of ONSIA donated his Bluetooth enabled canvases to Hugo and other participating artists, which will be part of the event’s silent auction with all proceeds going directly to the Memories in the Making program.

Steve Ventre had this to say about the fundraiser. “When I heard about the Memories in the Making program I immediately wanted to help. I encourage everyone to bring his
or her pocketbook; there will be some great original art for sale. And I can’t wait to see Hugo painting live”

All proceeds will go directly to purchase art supplies for the Memories in the Making classes so that our friends with memory loss are given a non-verbal form of creative expression.

Ron McWhorter, president of Art-A-Fair Foundation said, “Everyone involved is looking forward to continuing our support of the Memories in the Making program while celebrating the arts and connecting with the Orange County community at this event.”
