Author, entrepreneur, keynote speaker and social influencer, James Sweasy is set to speak at a recovery awareness event in Louisville. James’ talk will be part of a packed schedule of events at the Blackout Addiction 5K Glow Run at Fairbanks Park. The second annual event will take place on Friday 24th September.
The Blackout Addiction 5K Glow Run is an event designed to raise awareness of addiction recovery. People in recovery will be running and walking on the day and the community is coming together to show its support for individuals and families affected by addiction. Last year, more than 600 people attended and the event was a huge success. The scale of the event shows just how many people are impacted by addiction and the difference nonprofits like the Wabash Valley Recovery Alliance make.
The aim of the Blackout Addiction fun run is to show that people who are in recovery are not hiding away and raise funds for the Wabash Valley Recovery Alliance and Recovery Center. The nonprofit provides free support and assistance to families in the area.
James Sweasy will be taking to the stage to give a talk as part of a program that boasts high-profile speakers, many of whom have battled addiction. James is an active member of the Louisville community and he speaks candidly about his own experiences with addiction to encourage and reassure others and provide hope and optimism. James went from being in a detox bed to running successful businesses and speaking at events across the US and he is determined to show that there is no shame in fighting addiction and reaching out and seeking help. James will be joined by other outstanding keynote speakers and there will also be a concert in the grounds on the day, with music provided by bands and artists, some of whom are in recovery. The Glow Run course is 5 kilometers and participants can run, walk, skip, hop, jog or crawl to the finish line. The event is open to everyone, and it’s a great opportunity to spend quality time with family, friends and neighbors, make new friends and support a cause that plays an integral role in assisting local families.
