Brisbane Apprentices From Artisan Bespoke Jewellers Shine at WorldSkills Regional Competition

Artisan Bespoke Jewellers stood out at the competition, with apprentices winning gold and silver awards due to the quality of their accuracy, finish quality, and construction techniques.

Two apprentices from Brisbane’s multi-award-winning Artisans Bespoke Jewellers excelled at the WorldSkills Regional competition.

Third-year apprentice Louis Kleimeyer won Gold, while second-year apprentice Jasmin Brown secured Silver, reinforcing the business’s renowned craftsmanship behind the internationally acclaimed ‘Khroma’ Ring and ‘Amelia’ piece which is a transitional Necklace/Clutch.

World Skills are competitions designed by industry and skills experts who assess an individual’s knowledge, practical competence and employability skills against a set of strict criteria.

Twenty-five apprentices registered to compete in the event and four medals were awarded. Brisbane Region received Gold, Silver and Bronze. The East Coast Region received Gold. 

“The apprentices had 6 hours to make the custom jewellery item in the drawing and it’s judged on accuracy, measurements, quality of soldering, quality of finish and similarity to the drawing”, said Jane Foster, Educational Team Leader at TAFE Queensland.

These wins align with the Australian Government’s National Skills Week and highlights the importance of nurturing skills to meet industry demands and elevate Australian craftsmanship on a global stage.
