Community Activist Takes Action Against Rampant Drug Pandemic

Volunteers of the Nosipho Signoria Hashe (NSH) Youth Development organization – a community empowerment and skills development organization – successfully executed an anti-drug awareness campaign and booklet distribution in Cosmo City, Johannesburg, in an all-out attempt in their fight against drug abuse in their community.

Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa – November 9, 2023 —

Recently, volunteers of the Nosipho Signoria Hashe (NSH) Youth Development organization – a community empowerment and skills development organization –  successfully executed an anti-drug awareness campaign and booklet distribution in Cosmo City, Johannesburg, in an all-out attempt in their fight against drug abuse in their community. Fired-up with anger about the heavy drug problem in the area, hell-bent volunteers geared up with their Truth About Drugs t-shirts, caps and tote bags, educating 1,200 youths and adults about the harmful effects of drugs and distributed hundreds of anti-drug booklets, to fight against drugs in their area.

“Drugs are destroying the future of our youths and our society”, said Nosipho Hashe, Founder and Marketing Director of NSH Youth Development. “Myself and my organization see to it that we empower the community about the deadly effects of drugs and encourage young people to make informed decisions, before taking drugs in the first place”, Hashe added. 

Recent incidents further reveal how addictive pain-killers mixed with cough medicine have become regular “bed-fellows” of the youths. According to an article published hot off the press on 5 November 2023 by News24, an increasing number of underage pupils are drinking alcohol and getting high on the codeine of drug concoctions mixed with cough syrup. 

NSH Youth Development has adopted and uses the Foundation for a Drug-Free World campaign and its accompanying Truth About Drugs materials, for their drug awareness activities in their community.

“The Truth About Drugs materials makes it so easy for us to educate people about the harmful effects of drugs and substance abuse”, said Hashe. “It is a MUST that we have tools available which are easy to use and understand, especially in this day and age where the drug issue has become rampant”. 

The Foundation for a Drug-Free World is a world-wide nonprofit public benefit corporation that has been existing since the year 2006. The Foundation empowers youth and adults with factual information about drugs so they can make informed decisions and live drug-free. Drug-Free World is proudly sponsored by the Church of Scientology and Scientologists all over the world. They have paid millions to the Foundation, to forward the movement of drug awareness world-wide.    

Referring to the devastating impact of drugs on society, author, humanitarian and Scientology Founder L. Ron Hubbard wrote, “The planet has hit a barrier which prevents any widespread social progress—drugs and other biochemical substances. These can put people into a condition which not only prohibits and destroys physical health but which can prevent any stable advancement in mental or spiritual well-being.” 

In alignment with this, the Church of Scientology and its members are dedicated to eradicating drug abuse through education and invite the participation of all who share the goal of a drug-free world. 

“Drug-Free World is just one of several programmes of the Church of Scientology that I have adopted with my organization and are implementing in the community, to reform and improve the society”, said Hashe appreciatively. “I’m very grateful of the Church for making these tools available. I have assisted hundreds with it”.
