Death Of Michigan Worker Generates Comment From Construction Accident Lawyer
July 03, 2016 – – LipsigLawyers.com’s Thomas Moverman stated in June that the death of a Michigan construction worker is both tragic and frustrating. Moverman offered his condolences to the family and friends of the victim and added that the frequency with which these accidents occur is baffling.
The 29-year-old central Michigan man was killed early Friday at a natural gas pipeline construction site in Oregon in an accident that included an excavator, according to The Blade. The man had been working on a pipeline when he became pinned between some heavy equipment and a pipe in the 3800 block of Starr Avenue. The man was pronounced dead on the scene and an autopsy was scheduled to determine the cause of death.
The OSHA reported that more than 20 percent of all work-related fatalities in 2013 were employed in the construction industry and that one in five of the 4,821 reported fatalities in 2014 were in the construction industry. The most common forms of injury in the construction business include slips, trips, and falls. These types of accidents in addition to electrocution and being stuck between objects or struck by them, accounted for over half of construction worker deaths in 2014, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
