The staff at the website analyzed locations based on online reviews of the nursing homes within those locations to find which had the best and worst reputations for care.

Using Yelp reviews on over 10,000 nursing homes throughout the country, collecting data on all that had over 250 reviews to draw data from, DNPProgramStudies.com has completed rankings that look at both the best and worst states for nursing homes using a 1-5 star scale. They have also completed a list of the top 50 cities with the best nursing homes and top 50 cities with the worst nursing homes with the same data.

The report, which has been published in full at https://www.dnpprogramstudies.com/news/the-places-with-the-best-and-worst-nursing-homes-in-america/, also provides some details on which cities and states have been found to be the worst and the best. Ranking at the best state for nursing homes in the US is Vermont, while Nevada ranks the worst at 51st place, with average rankings from as high as 4.42 down to 3.16.

When looking at it on a city-to-city basis, the difference in reviews and reputation provides a larger contrast. The best city for nursing homes, according to the analysis, is Arlington Heights, IL, with an average nursing home rating of 4.18. Meanwhile, the city with the worst-reviewed nursing homes is Warren, MI, with a 2.72 rating. The study, as published on the website, also includes links to relevant news stories that may play a role in the average scores of some of the locations mentioned.
